In a world that's moving faster and faster, it's no wonder so many of us find ourselves being pulled in many different directions. As a student, these forces usually come from two main areas: academic obligations and social life. It is important to properly balance these forces while at college to develop a healthy lifestyle. As graduation draws near, (it's just over two months away) many seniors are looking back on their four or five years and wondering if they have played their cards right. There are those who have attended more parties than classes and have their GPA to prove it. There are also students who have never set a foot into Frank 'N' Stein's, or more fondly known as the popular hangout for Norwich students, "The Pub," or any other popular hangout. Anyone in either of these groups would most certainly tell a younger student to live life on both sides of the fence. In other words, do your homework, but don't forget to enjoy the short time you have on campus. Many activities are available at Norwich and in Northfield that some students don't realize. This could be the only time that some people will be in Vermont, so please take advantage of all it has to offer - skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, horseback riding, etc. There are also facets that Norwich offers that will not be as easily accessible after graduation, such as playing racquetball, year-round swimming, the museum, tennis, etc. Believe it or not, the costs of taking advantage of these activities are covered in your tuition! The most important things to keep in mind are the bonds formed between friends here. We are all in the same boat (as far as being students at Norwich) and after this, it will not be as easy as walking across the hall or throwing a snowball up at someone's window to get their attention. Spend some time with friends. Enjoy it, and don't shy away from taking
a risk every now and then if it will lead to creating a positive, lasting
memory. |
