In Memoriam

Norwich University is mourning the loss of two of its own - George Morell '76 and Thomas Palazzo '79 - in the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. Both men worked on the 104th floor of the Trade Center for the securities firm Cantor-Fitzgerald. The entire University community extends its prayers and condolences to George and Tom's families at this difficult time.

George, 47, of Mt. Kisco, N.Y., graduated from Norwich in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. At Norwich, he participated in rugby, lacrosse, swimming, and was named to the Dean's List his senior year. He was Partner and Vice President in the Mortgage Department of Cantor Fitzgerald. Three of George's brothers - Tony '65, Jay '73 and Mark '78 - also graduated from Norwich. George was a member of the Westchester Country Club, the Downtown Athletic Club, the Mashomac Fish and Game Preserve and was involved with many other community activities. He is survived by his wife, Robbie; his children, Nancy Jeanne, George Jr., Kelsey Jane and Harrison; his brothers and sisters, Rita Shea, Tony, Mary Jane Haggerty, Catherine Raddatz, Jay and Mark. A tribute and candlelight mass were held on September 19th in Bedford, N.Y.

Thomas A. Palazzo '79

Tom, of Armonk, N.Y., attended Norwich for two years with the class of 1979. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children, Kristen, Keri and Kaitlin; his brothers and sisters, Phillip, Dick, Bettina, Toni and Barbara. His brother, Robbie, attended Norwich with the class of 1978. A memorial mass was held on September 22nd in Rye, N.Y.

In honor and memory of George and Tom, we suggest that you consider making a donation to the George W. Morell Memorial Fund at 365 Sarles Street, Mt. Kisco, NY 10549 and/or the Thomas A. Palazzo Memorial Fund at P.O. Box 296, Rye, NY 10580. Norwich University has made available a full-tuition scholarship, should any of their children wish to attend Norwich.
