According to NUAC President Benjamin K. Sweeney, Norwich University's
Student Club fair was very successful this year, with over 400 students
coming out to visit the 39 booths representing the university's
various clubs and activities.
The fair kicked off Sept. 19 with clubs ranging from cheerleading
to scuba diving to paint ball.
"All the clubs set up booths and do demonstrations, answer
questions and try to get students to sign up for their club,"
Sweeney said. "There are four judges who grade the booths on
four categories: originality, presentation, question period and
enthusiasm."
The cheerleaders shared third place with Beta Beta Beta, the biological
honor society. Each received a cash prize of $50.
Second place went to the American Chemical Society and the Cigar
Club, who received a $75 cash prize for their work.
First place went to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu club, who put on live
demonstrations of their martial art at the fair. The club won a
$100 cash prize.
"Jiu-Jitsu is a new club this year," said NUAC Vice President
Jennifer Doucette. "It looks to be very exciting, and I think
it is going to be very big."
There are many clubs available to Norwich students.
