During the January 2009 recess, Seifert traveled to Patapatani with classmate Sharlene Markowski and civil engineering professors Adam Sevi and Greg Wight to prepare for Norwich’s first Engineers without Borders [EWB] project.

As the group worked with Bolivian villagers to understand issues of spring and surface water, they were just scratching the surface of the potential for future EWB projects involving University students.

“It’s a big thing to bring potable water and basic sanitary facilities to these towns,” said Sevi, adding that the students are a critical part of the organization’s mission. “They’re still just learning, which allows for some very off-the-wall, creative thinking.” continue
