Career Development Center

With over 25 years of combined career development experience, the staff of the Career Development Center assists undergraduate students and alumni of the University in seeking employment in a field consistent with their academic training and interests. In support of this mission, a broad range of programs and services are provided.

Career fairs are offered throught the year. To date, two career fairs have been scheduled for the academic year.

Individual counseling appointments are available throughout the year to discuss your particular career search needs. We educate clients on a full array of career related topics, including, resume preparartion, cover letter writing, mock interviews, career search strategies, business etiquette and so on.

Career Exploration Inventory is a self directed assessment tool designed to help a client match his or her interests and skills with potential occupations. This resource is particularly helpful for those needing more clarity or focus in their job search.

Career Search is a database of over 2,000,000 companies nationwide that allows the user to search for potential employers based on industry, occupation and geographic location. Up-to-date salary and compensation information is also available on Career Search.

Networking Socials are networking events coordinated by the Career Development Center and the Alumni Office to facilitate the exchange of employment and career information between current students and Norwich alumni.

Internship search assistance is offered to students via a network of employers with well established programs. The Career Center also has a variety of online and print internship guides and information.

Classroom presentations are available to faculty. Career Center staff can tailor their presentations to suit the needs of students. Some topics which can be addressed include: self-assessment, resume preparation, writing cover letters, interview skills and job search strategy. Students of all class years and all majors can benefit from these presentations.

Consortium events, such as career fairs, sponsored by other Vermont-area colleges and universities, are open to Norwich students. Please contact the Career Development Center to obtain further information.

Resource Library is newly updated with reference materials that describe occupations and their employment outlook, publications about specific career topics, salary surveys and other material regarding job search strategies.We are proud to offer a free copy of Job Choices magazine to any student. Job Choices is an award winning, annual publication from our professional organization, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

On-campus interviews are scheduled by employers. Frequently, resume collection is conducted in advance of the on-campus interview.

Guest speakers periodically visit campus and provide information on career search strategies, industry insider information and networking opportunities.
