Housing & Dining
Housing
At Norwich there are three residential housing areas. The largest is called the Upper Parade Ground, which has eight residence halls and cadet barracks built around our parade ground—the place where fall and spring outdoor parades and ceremonies are held. Most of these buildings are barracks for the Corps of Cadets; Dodge Hall is utilized by both Corps and civilian populations. Crawford Hall, located along Route 12—Northfield’s main street, houses residential civilian students as well. The third housing area is the new home of South Hall, Norwich’s newest all-civilian dormitory. Located on the south end of campus, the area is being developed for future residence halls.
We currently have almost 1,800 residential beds on campus. Virtually all of our Corps of Cadets and freshman and sophomore civilian students reside on campus as well as some of our upper-class civilian students.
Dining
Some students call the place they eat a dining hall, others a mess hall. Either way, Wise Campus Center (WCC) is Norwich’s dining and social hub. The All-Inclusive Meal Plan includes continuous dining on weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. There is no limit to the number of times a participant may eat in the dining hall during these hours. On weekends, the All-Inclusive Meal Plan includes a complete brunch and dinner service. Two guest meals per semester are included.
Rooks and some of their leaders eat in the WCC second-floor Rook Dining Hall. All other students—upper-class Corps, civilian and commuters—as well as visitors can choose from the WCC first-floor dining hall or The Mill snack bar. The Mill operates with extended hours and is open until midnight. Students of legal drinking age will find a variety of Vermont micro brews, wines and pub grub at Partridge’s Pub.
