NU Intramural/Recreational Sports Council

The intramural/recreational sports council is tasked to provide students, faculty, staff, and alumni with the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and recreational activities. (Club sports are responsible for the organization and administration of their respective clubs.) Staff advisor: Greg McGrath

Dance Team

This club was formed mainly with the plan of providing students with an outlet for their dancing skills. It also provides an opportunity to learn and teach dances to different types of music, ranging from modern jazz to classic ballet. Staff advisors: Michele Langley and Mary Martin

Equestrian Club

A group of students dedicated to horses and horseback riding. Students partake in weekly lessons to improve riding skills and prepare for competition. The club competes in 3 or 4 Intercollegiate Dressage Association events a semester throughout the New England Area. The club is open to all students with prior horseback riding experience that are eager to learn!

Fencing Club

This club trains individuals to be effective fencers, testing their wits and reflexes, and enabling them to participate in tournaments. Different techniques and styles are examined.

Ice Hockey

The Norwich University ACHA (Club) Hockey team is a Division 2 member of American Collegiate Hockey Association and North East Collegiate Hockey Association. The team competes with other ACHA and NECHA sanctioned teams and prep schools throughout New England and Eastern New York. The team competes for a NECHA title as well as a spot into the ACHA regional and national tournaments. The team holds tryouts every October and anyone interested is encouraged to contact the club president at president@norwichclubhockey.com

Green Mountain Experiences (GME)

Based on the models of NU Bound and Outing Club, GME is dedicated to providing outdoor activities to meet the recreational and educational needs of Norwich students, faculty, and staff. GME will provide challenging and exciting outdoor opportunities through workshops and adventure trips. The goal of GME is to encourage the Norwich community to learn the skills necessary to enjoy and safely participate in outdoor adventure activities.

Men's Rugby

This club is for men dedicated to playing rugby to the best of their ability while promoting physical fitness and teamwork. Although not a varsity sport, the men's rugby team does compete with teams from other colleges, clubs, and universities.

Mixed Martial Arts

This group aims to build the complete martial artist within an enjoyable and entertaining environment.

Norwich University Mountain Bike Club (NUMTBC)

The bike club provides a way for Norwich University students to improve technical skills, physical fitness, and mechanical knowledge in relation to freeride, cross country, and downhill mountain biking. Its members provide instruction, go on group rides, and visit top riding spots in the northeast for recreation and competition. The club advisor is Holly MacSweeney.

Paintball Club

This club promotes leadership and good sportsmanship by organizing, running, and facilitating standard games and tournaments both on campus and off.

Rock Climbing

This club expands the horizons of students who have climbed or would like to climb. Climbing takes place at the rock wall and other facilities offered by the University. Open to both corps and traditional students. Faculty advisors: Professor Mike Hoffman and Jenifer Atwood

Scuba Club

The scuba club promotes, encourages, and supports the sport and/or recreational scuba diving and encourages ecological awareness.

Ski Club

This organization helps promote alpine skiing, snow boarding, and cross country skiing. Its members provide instruction, group events, and they visit the major ski areas in the Northeast. Staff advisor: Bill Wick

Triathlon Club

This club prepares potential triathletes for participation in triathlons. The triathlon is a combination of swimming, cycling, and running. The lengths of these races vary widely, and it is the intention of this club to prepare individuals for this sort of event. Faculty advisor: Stewart Robertson
