Applying

At Norwich, we review applications based on the “whole person” concept. We consider your academic qualifications as well as your involvement in school and community activities and leadership potential. The goal is to ensure that you are a good “fit” for Norwich, both academically and socially.

Admissions Guidelines

There are different guidelines for reviewing applications based on what type of student you are. Select the choice that best fits you for more information:

How to Apply

When you’ve decided you want to apply, just complete any of the following methods:

Apply Online

Apply, upload your essay or send electronic requests for letters of recommendation through our online application system.

Download a PDF Application

We do not have a PDF version for International applicants at this time and encourage students to apply online.

Fill out a paper application

  • Contact the admissions office at 1.800.468.6679 to request a paper application be mailed to you.
  • Pick up a paper application at any admissions event in your area.

Once your application has been submitted, the following items (unless otherwise noted) must be received by the admissions office before your application can be considered for acceptance:

Transcripts: Arrange to have an official copy of your high school transcript or GED sent to Norwich. When appropriate, transcripts should include first semester grades.

Test Scores: Arrange to have your SAT I and/or ACT test scores sent to Norwich. Although it is recommended that students take the optional writing portion of the ACT, it is not required for admission to the University.

Personal Essay: Tell us something about yourself that isn’t apparent from your academic record. If you experienced something which affected your academic performance, tell us about it. This is your chance to sell yourself.

Letters of Recommendation: (Not required, but highly encouraged) We will consider two to three letters of recommendation from a counselor, teacher, coach, employer, or any person who can attest to your academic abilities and character.

Additional Requirements: Students applying to the Architecture program or who are applying as an international student have additional requirements. For more information, visit their respective pages:

Deadlines

You are welcome to apply to Norwich anytime after the completion of your junior year of high school. Priority deadlines are as follows:

  • Fall Enrollment: February 1
  • Spring Enrollment: November 15

Note: International Students have a separate application process with different deadlines. For more information, visit our International Student Guidelines and Requirements page.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, meaning that when we have received all of the information required to complete your file, we will begin to review your application for admission.
